In 2004, OVCNS adopted a Montessori curriculum and philosophy. With one of the few AMI-trained teachers in the Ojai Valley, our classroom environment follows the Montessori philosophy by allowing each child to grow and learn at her individual pace. The teachers provide activities that promote a child's imagination and creativity as she learns about herself and the world around her. In our classroom, you will see children preparing food, painting, polishing wood, cleaning the windows, arranging flowers, reading and writing words, and showing the value of numbers in the thousands. Outside activities include, gardening, climbing, rakeing, building, care for baby dolls, and dressing in costumes. Throughout the year we also offer special classes in theatre and yoga.

Finally, one of the most important aspects of our program is the opportunity for parents to participate in the child's early education. Parents bring their talents, ideas, and presence into our classroom. We learn from one another, and are all enriched as a result.
